DEVOTE ONE'S BEST TO THE COMPANY
From ordinary workers, they have worked hard to become high-skilled workers, a valuable asset of the Company. "For 20 years working in the company, I have never seen anyone working faster than Hue!" Huynh Thi Mong Van, Head of Group 5 at Binh Phuoc Factory, Saigon 3 Garment Joint Stock Company (Thu Duc Dist., HCMC), gave such praise when speaking of Ms. Cao Thi Hue.
Ms. Cao Thi Hue (standing) is sharing speedy sewing skills to her co-workers.
Senior worker of the workshop
Ms. Hue was born in 1978 in Ben Tre, having her leg paralyzed after a severe illness. Lacking in formal education, she went to Ho Chi Minh City in search of manual jobs. In 2007, she applied for Sai Gon 3 Garment Joint Stock Company, because "she heard that the Company treats people with disabilities well".
In the Company, she is supported by her co-workers and managers. In response, she devotes all her energy to learning and improving her skills. "I go to work on time, and I always pay attention to learn from my co-workers. I never refuse any task from the leader," she shared. On Ms. Hue's diligence, Mrs. Thuy openly expresses her admiration: "Since she came here to work, Hue has never asked for any day off!"
Keeping reminding herself to work twice harder than normal people, Ms. Hue has now mastered a wide range of sewing techniques, especially three later stages of not the production process requiring high levels of workmanship. Furthermore, her monthly productivity is twice as high as her peers. Not only is she open to share her secrets in speed sewing, Ms. Hue is often responsible for most of the workload for the team. Mr. Vo Hoang Bich, President of the labor union of the workshop, says: "Somebody in the workshop calls Hue "a speed runner", also the senior member of the workshop! If there's any stage that needs to be done quickly, Ms. Hue was sent for immediately."
The gem of the company
In 1999, after serving the army, Mr.Doan Thanh Hoang returned to his hometown in Binh Chanh district, Ho Chi Minh City to earn his living as a miner. In 2001, he was taken in by Dong Tam Company and assigned to work as a loader in the brick-drying process. "I am curious by nature, so in my free time I often study machines and imitate my co-workers to do the tasks in other stages of production," Hoang said. Thanks to that, he was soon entrusted to take charge of the brick-pressing machine.
In his work, noticing that the manually-done trimming step (getting rid of remnants along the edges of a brick) is both time- and labor-consuming, Hoang proposed a solution: making a special machine to trim the bricks. This unique machine has a metal knife which automatically cuts off the remnants along the edges. Putting into use, it has saved over VND 100 million of labor costs per year for the company. From this first invention, he has created many other works such as "How to improve tile quality" and "Cement pumping machine using Pulley pumps instead of screw pumps", saving hundreds of millions of dollars each year for the company.
Speaking of Hoang, Ms. Tran Thi My Phuong, Director of Dong Tam Co., Ltd, is very proud. "Hoang has helped the company greatly in reducing production costs, thus lowering retail price and improving competitiveness of the products. He is the gem of the company! "
Passion for creativity
"Tuan has contributed greatly to the development of the company." Ms. Pham Thi Minh Suong, deputy director of Pham Thu Company (Hoc Mon District, HCMC), has given such high praise on the "master of innovation" Nguyen Tran Quoc Tuan.
Mr. Tuan was born in 1975, a native of Ben Tre and originally a mechanic. Passionate about work and knowledgeable about machinery, Tuan never ceases to learn and create. In 2010, he successfully implemented the automation line for waste collection in the company's cardboard carton mill. "My solution is to make electrically-controlled shovels to remove waste tape in the hydraulic machine and make a filtering cleaner to clean off rubbish behind the separator," said Tuan. After the application, his electric shovel and cleaner have saved nearly VND 100 million for the company. His other inventions, such as the pulp storage tank to avoid the use of power generator at peak times and the steam-powered synchronous wave generator, also contributed to cutting production costs, saving hundreds of millions of VND per year for the company.
Supported by colleagues
In our interview, all the awardees have shared that their success is made possible thanks to the enormous help of colleagues and effective leadership of the managers. Ms. Cao Thi Hue said, "I am always grateful to the company's leaders and colleagues for their support." Mr. Doan Thanh Hoang said, "When I need to focus on a new machine upgrade project, my colleagues are always willing to cover the working day for me." As for Mr. Nguyen Tran Quoc Tuan, "The trust of the managers and the warm support of colleagues have made my success today."
