I thought the General Director just asked for fun, but my child was actually taken in to work!
Ms.Vu Thi Kim Tuyen, 46, a service staff of the Company, was emotional when recounting the day her son followed her footstep to work in SG3. "That day, while I was working, Mr. Viet – CEO – asked me about my family. I said that my first son, Le Duc Anh, recently graduated from the university. His major is Environment Protection, but he has to work in a different field because he couldn’t find any job that matches his expertise. He listened to me and didn’t say a word, but about 1.5 months later, an administrative officer told me that the Company was in need of staff working in the environmental field. That person said I should ask my son to apply for it. Soon after, my child was taken in for an internship. We were very, very happy. "

Ms. Tuyen has been working for Sai Gon 3 since 1999, after a few years leaving her hometown – Hung Yen – to go to Sai Gon in search of jobs. At that time, Duc Anh was only a first grader, sometimes he came to SG3 with his mother to be awarded a scholarship or to take part in some special activities on the International Children's Day. Working for the Company for some time, she took a maternity leave to give birth to the third child and returned to the Company soon after. She didn’t expect that one day, she and her son were able to work in the same company, although Duc Anh is only working as an intern till now. “They say my child has to prove his ability to get an official contract," but I am very grateful to Mr. Viet and other officers for giving my son the opportunity to do the right job," she said.
Not only her son but her brother-in-law, sister-in-law, sister and three of her neighbors have been working here. They were invited by her as she was “a fan” of Sai Gon 3 for its work ethics. "No matter what happens, the Company always pays for the workers on time, never late even one day. My colleagues are very friendly. The managers are all very sociable and they appreciate my contribution." Especially, the working environment is getting better and better. She strongly believes that Sai Gon 3 will never cease to develop, so she hopes that she and her family can work for the Company in a long run.
In Duc Anh’s memories, Sai Gon 3 was once a piece of bare land, with only one small workshop. But when he comes back, it's a completely different scene: the Company has become modern, professional, and it can offer the job he’s always wanted to do. Duc Anh is responsible for running the Company's waste water treatment plant and drinking water production factory, as well as its environmental profile. He likes the work because it is dynamic and he’s got great chances to learn from the senior workers.
“Generally speaking, SG3 is an ideal workplace”, Ms. Tuyen said. She is also thinking of getting a certain girl in the Company to marry Duc Anh. We hope that love will find a way to bloom and maybe, a few decades later, her grandson may continue the family’s tradition to become a "third-generation citizen" of Sai Gon 3.
We’ve got this life thanks to Sai Gon 3
Ms. Huynh Thi Mong Van, 50 years old, a second-in-command of the 1st production line in workshop 1, Hiep Binh Phuoc factory recalled the first day she went to Sai Gon 3. When she came in for the interview and trial work, her husband and her 5-year-old daughter were waiting for her across the street. The officer asked her warily: Your child is still too young, are you sure you can work for us? She nodded at once: Yes, of course!
After that decisive nod, Ms.Mong Van has been working for Sai Gon 3 for 23 years. Her first baby girl who once tagged along when she applied for the job now has become a colleague of hers. Not only the daughter, her son-in-law also listened to her advice and worked in Sai Gon 3. Ms. Van confided: I want my children to work in the same place as I do, and the couple can settle down to have babies. Sai Gon 3 has developed so much and changed my life, so that I hope my children can change their lives with the company, too. "
In 1993, as a newcomer, with limited education of a sixth grader and some experience in garment-making, she was assigned to be worker. Then, seeing that she was skillful, her boss let her do modeling and finishing tasks. Over the years, she got promoted to be a second-in-command, then the head of the group, managing dozens of workers and having "some voice" over the boss and colleagues. The initial salary of VND 300-400 thousand has increased exponentially, making her current pay at about VND 10 million or more per month.
Her daughter, Hoang Thuy Vi, followed her footstep. After graduating from vocational school in fashion design, she worked for the fashion center of the Company, then switched to sewing modeling for the technical department. After 10 years, her income increased ten-fold. More importantly, she is working in the same group with her husband, so she can be with him all the time, without worrying about having to “monitor” her partner.

In addition to her stable family, Ms.Van also really likes the working environment in Sai Gon 3. People treat each other very well and friendly. The Board of Directors is highly concerned about the lives of the workers. Restaurants and toilets are rebuilt; workshops and machinery are upgraded. The thing that she is most “satisfied" with, though, is the reduction in working hours. She no longer has to work overtime until 8pm or at weekends, so she cam get more times to be with her family. "I love the new working process. It helps reduce working hours and increase income thanks to better productivity," she shared. She also likes the fact that she and her colleagues will receive more accident insurance, more opportunities to do the charity jobs and contribute to the fund for the poor.
With Mr.Vo Tan Quang, Ms. Van's son-in-law, what impresses him the most with Sai Gon 3 is that the year-end bonus is consistent and much higher than other places. Usually, they’ll pay 2 months’ worth of salary for the bonus, but in Sai Gon 3 it is 3 months this year. "Well, the good point is that they calculate the bonus based on our actual salary instead of the ambiguous figure on the contract document. Besides, the boss also cares a lot about the workers’ life. Sometimes there’re problems at work, but when we feedback to the boss, they will be resolved quickly. When you get angry with someone and think about quitting altogether, the boss will call and encourage you to continue working. "
Besides her children, Ms. Van also advised her in-laws and many other relatives to work in SG3 because according to her, though the work here is not easy, it provides much higher income than being a farmer. Moving from Tien Giang to Sai Gon to work is a critical decision that has changed the life of her family. Now she considers Sai Gon 3 as her second home.
